At Byron Primary School, we are a fully inclusive school where every child is valued, supported and encouraged to achieve their full potential. Our values of Respect, Aspire and Succeed underpin everything we do and shape our commitment to ensuring that all pupils can thrive academically, socially, emotionally and personally.

We recognise that every child is unique and that some children may require additional support to help them access learning, overcome barriers and achieve success. We have high expectations for all pupils and are committed to providing an inclusive environment where children feel safe, supported and able to participate fully in school life.

When a child experiences difficulties that affect their progress or access to learning, we work closely with families, staff and external professionals to identify needs and provide appropriate support. We use a graduated approach, following the cycle of Assess, Plan, Do and Review, to ensure that provision is carefully matched to individual needs and regularly evaluated for impact.

At Byron Primary School, we are committed to following the Bradford Matrix of Need, developed by Bradford Metropolitan District Council. This framework helps schools identify and understand pupils' strengths and needs, ensuring that children receive the right support at the right time. It outlines:

  • The characteristics of different areas of SEND.
  • Strategies and interventions that may support a child.
  • The level of provision that may be required.
  • The range of educational settings and support available.

We believe that inclusion is everyone's responsibility. Through high-quality teaching, adaptive practice, targeted support and strong partnerships with families and external agencies, we aim to ensure that every child is able to develop confidence, independence and the knowledge and skills needed to succeed both in school and beyond.

At Byron, we celebrate individuality, remove barriers to learning and ensure that every child is known, valued and supported to achieve their very best.

 

Our Inclusion Team works closely with pupils, families, staff and external agencies to ensure that children receive the right support at the right time. We have high aspirations for all pupils and are committed to helping every child achieve their full potential academically, socially and emotionally.

Mrs Zubeida Amin is the school's Attendance Officer  and pastoral support and is a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL), working closely with pupils and families to promote wellbeing, inclusion and successful school attendance.
